Jacqueline Garoz, LGPC
Hi, I am Jacqueline Garoz, in our society, many individuals fear seeking mental health treatment due to stigma. The fear of being judged or misunderstood. The lack of information about what therapy is or how it works. In addition, many clients also have a language barrier that prevents them from obtaining the services they need. Engaging in therapy does not mean you are “mentally ill”, many of us are seeking therapy because we may need a non-biased person that makes us feel safe. I am here to provide that sense of safety, to listen, and to help you find the tools that will get you through those tough times in life. It’s important to remember that we are all human beings, and we all may experience stressful moments throughout our life. When life gets tough and you need a little extra help, I am here.
I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in the state of Maryland. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), and obtained my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola University Maryland.
During my training, I worked in various settings, allowing me to gain experience working with different populations and issues. Some of the places I worked include private practice, schools, and agency settings. I am certified/trained in Trauma treatment, CBT for anxiety disorders and depression, LGBTQ clinical strategies to support orientation and gender identity, and Exposure therapy for OCD and anxiety disorders.
My approach when working with my clients is eclectic. I like to tailor a treatment that is very specific to the client’s needs. My passion is helping individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma, and who have barriers to treatment regardless of the circumstances. Let me help you take the first step.
