Amanda Cornaglia LGPC
Hello! I’m Amanda Cornaglia and I am a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor, under the supervision of Ingrid Ponciano, LCMFT.
I earned my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Hodges University in 2022 and my B.A. in Asian Studies, with a focus on Japanese and Chinese language and culture, from Hamilton College in 2001. Since then, I have worked primarily as a musician and a teacher, with experience in international relations, as well as business and event management. My experience working with people of all ages from around the world has taught me to see the whole person and to meet them where they are, rather than where the world is telling them they should be. I strongly believe that my role as a therapist is to help you find and utilize your strengths and purposefully approach challenges to create a life that you want, no matter how unconventional.
I completed my year-long clinical internship here at Vertex Counseling and Wellness, working with clients of all ages. My therapeutic approach is person-centered and we’ll work together to find what best suits your needs. I primarily utilize CBT, Play Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and ExRP, but incorporate other interventions as needed. I have specialized training in helping clients with OCD, ADHD, PTSD, Depression, and Anxiety. I am passionate about working with children and teens, especially as they navigate growing up in a time of unprecedented change in the wake of the pandemic. I also work with adults seeking assistance through stressful or overwhelming transitions or struggling with communication, intimacy, or identity issues. I am LGBTQ+-affirming, sex-positive, and polyamory-friendly. I strive to create a safe and judgment-free space that allows my clients to feel supported in their therapeutic journey.
